Hey ya’ll! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying themselves. We are doing good over in my neighborhood. I have a few projects under my belt that have been keeping me busy. Building a successful business is no a joke! We will definitely have to chat about that soon! Anyway, did you guys know that November is Prematurity Awareness Month, and that today is the day you should wear purple? I did not know this until recently. You know how you don’t become aware of things, until it happens to you or to someone close to you? My awareness came on June 25, 2015 when my daughter was born. She came a whole seven weeks early. I had suspected she was going to come early because she was growing small, but not a whole seven weeks early. I shared here about my birth story and why she was born early. My daughter spent three weeks in the NICU. She was the exception and not the rule. Usually babies born premature went home closer to their original due date. Some often stayed past their due date. From the start Beans was a fighter! It seemed like every day she got stronger and stronger. She was off oxygen by day three of her birth. She was done with her blue light therapy by day 4. Within a two weeks she was snacthing her feeding tube out of her nose. By week three she was not struggling to eat her bottle. I won’t lie and say that every day was easy. Oftentimes I would sit by her incubator and cry. I thought I was being punished. I could not understand why I had to be in this situation. Why couldn’t my pregnancy and delivery be "normal". It seemed so unfair. But then one day a baby across the hall from her coded. It was the scariest thing I ever heard. The next day when we came to visit Beans, that baby was still alive but you could tell that medical assistance was being provided to keep the baby alive. From then on I became grateful and stopped having my pity party. Since her birth I have encountered close friends who shared with me that they were preemies. I have meet strangers who were preemies. It is amazing to see how strong and intelligent these people are. Not to negate full term babies, but it is something about a preemie that is absolutely amazing! Preemies are fighters! They literally fight to stay alive! When I look at my friends who were born preemie I can see that same fighting spirit in them. No, they are not walking around like Floyd Mayweather or Lalia Ali. Lol. They may get knocked down but they know how to get back up. They are doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. They are my inspiration for my sweet little girl. I look at her and I know that she will be okay, because so and so made it. She is a survivor…
